Interesting Roulette Facts

Most people think that they know roulette and most of them would be mostly right, however there are so many things that people do not know about the wonderful game of roulette.
Blaise Pascal is a name that hardly anybody would recognize, his game however is one of the most recognizable games on the entire planet, this French mathematician was the man who introduced roulette to the world, although he did it completely by mistake and many upgrades and adaptations were applied to his original primitive version.

Most people also do not know that roulette at one point was reserved for the most high and affluent classes in Europe. Most people do not realize that the roulette tables they play on today were once not around, roulette tables with only one zero did not exist until 1843 which is when they were introduced in a small German town Homburg. The reason for the single zero table’s development was simply to steal business from other casinos, if all the casinos had tables with two zeroes but one casino had a table with one zero all the players would play at the single zero tables.

In Europe single zero wheels are still extremely common. The change however never caught on in America, America never switched to the single zero wheel and to this day casinos in Las Vegas still mostly feature the double zero wheel. In the 1990’s more innovations were made when it came to roulette wheels, however these changes were made to make the wheels more random and to prevent any errors that would result in biases.

There have been numerous occasions in which a team of gamblers would observe roulette wheels, discover biases and then attack the casinos. In 1982 a team of American gamblers went to Britain in hopes of exploiting casinos with older wheels, they succeeded and took the casinos for ridiculously large sums of money in a short amount of time.
